Foundation board of trustees meeting  

(March 28, 2018) — The Epagneul Breton Foundation's Board of Trustees met to review the foundation's finances and activities over the last several months. One trustee was absent, with all others present. Agenda items and actions included:

• Approval of previous meeting minutes and treasurer's report.

• An update on the 501(c)3 status approved by the IRS and tax-free status granted by          the State of Montana.

• Adoption of a policy for processing future grant requests, which provides that requests will be evaluated by a committee of officers to determine if the request meets criteria for educational, scientific, and/or charitable purposes. Requests will then be submitted to the full board for approval before disbursing funds.

• Approval to produce a "breed handbook" as an educational resource to be made available to breed organizations, breeders, media outlets and others interested in learning more about the breed. A committee was formed to compile information and produce a draft for approval by the board.

• An update on the web site addition of a new page dedicated to the Joyce Smith Memorial Scholarship fund.

• Election of trustees to fill terms that expired at year-end 2017, but were extended until successors were elected. Trustees Angie Hites, Post 8 and Jim Anders, Post 10 were unanimously re-elected to serve three-year terms retroactive to January 1, 2018. W. Edward Smith of Indiana was elected to Post 7 and Will Hutwagner of Georgia was elected to fill Post 9, each for three-year terms. Retiring trustees Alayna Hites and John Hanington were thanked for their generous service during their terms.

• Approval to present a summary report of Foundation activity to the Club Epagneul Breton - United States at its upcoming annual meeting in April. Trustee Denine Ackerbaurer agreed to present the report.

• Approval to add Honorary Trustee/Advisor to the foundation upon formal acceptance by the nominee.

Honorary Trustee added to Board  

(March 28, 2018) — The Epagneul Breton Foundation's Board of Trustees unanamously approved the addition of William D. Sandy Gunn, of Norwood, Ontario, Canada as an honorary trustee and advisor to the board. Gunn is well known and respected among field trialers and breed enthusiasts in the United States as well as Canada. Honorary trustees are selected for their expertise and knowledge of various aspects of the breed, from judging field performance and conformation to collecting art and documentation about the breed.
